LG G6 to make debut on 26 February, will not carry a Snapdragon 835 SoC

LG is expected to announce its new flagship smartphone soon and so far we know that it won’t carry over a modular design that the LG G5 had. The company recently released a teaser for the upcoming LG G6 where it suggested that the upcoming handset will be made considering consumer feedback. The launch date and a teaser image of the smartphone have leaked which points that the company will launch its flagship before its Korean rival Samsung. The LG G6 could make an appearance on 26 February at MWC 2017. According to The Verge, the smartphone will feature a large 5.7-inch display with a rather weird aspect ratio of 2:1. Furthermore, the emphasis of the display will be on minimising bezels. If rumours are true, then we can see the G6 come with a screen to body ratio of over 90 percent. Xiaomi’s Mi Mix currently offer the highest at 93 percent. The leaked image indicates the same, although we can’t see the bottom of the phone in the image. LG will be bringing in a metal and glass design, which will be a pleasant change from the plastic body seen on previous flagships. The smartphone will however carry forward the dual-camera setup and the rear fingerprint scanner from the G5. Another source claims that LG will launch the handset with a Snapdragon 821 SoC and not the newly announced 835. The reason for this is that Qualcomm is not providing the new chip to smartphone manufacturers before April. And this is because Samsung, which helped design the chip, is hogging the entire production run. This is also the reason why HTC had to launch the HTC U Ultra with an 821 instead of the 835. Samsung has got first exclusive access to the chip for the Galaxy S8 and until that is released, other handset makers will not have the opportunity to make use of the chipset till the Galaxy S8 is launched, probably in April. Update: We have stumbled upon a full image of the device on Twitter. By the looks of it, the claims seem to be correct and we could see a really good looking device from LG. https://twitter.com/VenyaGeskin1/status/823704542470606850 https://twitter.com/VenyaGeskin1/status/823704542470606850/photo/1
