Lenovo will be launching a new smartphone in India tomorrow dubbed the Phab 2 Plus. A successor to the original Phab Plus, the new smartphone was showcased at the Lenovo Tech World Conference in San Francisco back in June along with the Phab 2 Pro . The smartphone features a large 6.4-inch with full HD display (1920x1080 pixels resolution) along with a 2.5 D curved glass on top. It is powered by a MediaTek MT8783 octa-core processor which is paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card. The smartphone carries a dual camera setup at the back which has two 13MP camera lenses with a laser guided autofocus system. Not to be confused with Google’s Project Tango, the smartphone will have a special augmented reality mode that can create photos and videos with superimposed effects say like a virtual background. Some of the other highlights of the smartphone include support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio Capture 5.1 surround sound which is said to be quite impressive. There is a fingerprint scanner at the back along with a host of sensors. Rounding off the features is an 8MP front camera, a 4,050 mAh battery, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, microUSB and dual SIM support. The smartphone was announced with a price tag of $299 which is almost Rs 19,900. So we are expecting a price of anything under Rs 20,000 when it launches here. We also know that it will be available via Amazon.in thanks to the invite. We are not entirely sure of the target audience for this smartphone, but with that kind of form factor, the only smartphone that comes to our mind is the **Xiaomi Mi Max**. It would have been pretty cool if Lenovo was planning on getting the first ever Project Tango equipped Phab2 Plus smartphone. Join us tomorrow for detailed information and updates from the launch.
