Along with the first ever Google Tango smartphone - the Phab 2 Pro - the company has also announced two more devices. The all-new Phab 2 and Phab 2 Plus, both of which are non-Tango devices, have also been announced. These are budget devices, and the Phab 2 Plus is positioned slightly higher than the Phab 2. Both have the same 6.4-inch display as seen in the Phab 2 Pro. However, the Phab 2 features a lower 720p IPS screen. Under the hood, it is powered by quad-core MediaTek 8735 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM and a 13MP snapper. Then, there’s 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage expandable via microSD card slot. While the Phab 2 or Phab 2 Plus are nowhere close to the high-end Tango device - the Phab 2 Pro, Lenovo has ensured affordable AR with many of the attractive features found in higher-end models. Phab 2’s AR mode will let users create more unique photos and videos by superimposing effects such as virtual backgrounds or cartoons onto your pictures. On the other hand, the Phab 2 Plus has a better 1080p IPS screen and Lenovo has ensured the CPU is bumped up to a quad-core MediaTek 8783. Just like Phab 2, it also comes with 3GB of RAM, fingerprint scanner and 32GB and 64GB onboard storage, expandable via microSD card slot. The camera promises better low light images, and better after-shot refocusing. “The Phab 2 Plus comes with two 13MP rear cameras that have instant focus, fast f/2.0 lenses and the same professional-grade Futjitsu Milbeaut image signal processor that powers the Leica camera,” Lenovo reveals in its press release. Both devices also get Dolby Atmos audio and 4,050mAh battery. The Phab 2 and Phab 2 Plus will hit stores in September priced at $199 (approximately Rs 13,500) and $299 (approximately Rs 20,000), respectively.
