Lenovo kickstarted IFA 2013 by announcing the Vibe X smartphone and the S5000 tablet. The 5-inch Vibe X is aimed at the Chinese market, and won’t be coming to the US or Europe. The smartphone will be available in China next month, and could also make it to select regions by December. The 7-inch S5000 tablet is also expected to reach markets by the end of the year. Both devices run on Android Jelly Bean v4.2.
Vibe X sporting a 5-inch display
The Vibe X, also known as the IdeaPhone S960, is sleek at 6.9mm and weighs 121 grams. The smartphone sports a 5-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 pixels of resolution. It is built of premium polycarbonate body and the 5-inch display is protected with Gorilla Glass 3. Lenovo powers it with a MediaTek quad-core 1.5GHz MT6589T processor and 2GB of RAM. It is quite loaded on the camera front with a 13MP rear camera with auto-focus and BSI sensor, and a 5MP front-facing camera. The company has also added a full-featured photo application for its users to view and organise pictures. Users can create unique custom tags or folders, and choose custom settings and filters.
Lenovo S5000 is leeker and lighter than the Nexus 7
Along with the Vibe X, Lenovo has also announced S5000 tablet with a 7-inch display. The Lenovo S5000 is 7.9mm thick and weighs 236 grams, making it sleeker and lighter than the Nexus 7. However, the large display gets a resolution of only 1280 x 800 pixels. Under the hood, one will find quad-core MT8389 1.2GHz processor, with 1GB of RAM. Some of its key features are 16GB on-board storage, 5MP rear camera, 1.6MP front-facing camera, and a 3450mAh battery.
Lenovo has also updated its K900 smartphone with new color (black and orange) and storage (16GB or 32GB) options.
