Learn to play guitar, discover an Omegle alternative and more; here are the best apps of the week

By Abhilash Pavuluri With the Rajinikanth-starrer, Kabali, set to release this week, it’s no surprise that there is an official app for the same. Read on to find out what it’s like and also to try your hand at the other apps we’ve curated for you this week. Coloring ![Coloring](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Coloring.jpg) If you want to have a shot at being the next great artist, try Coloring. It’s a feature-packed but simple-to-use coloring app in an artbook style with a wide range of templates and designs to choose from. The templates range from animal and bird templates to buildings to even mehendi. There are a total of 90 templates to color! The app is a 58MB download, after which you have the entire template set in the form of ‘packs’ organized by topic. Each pack has further individual templates to select and draw on. The UI is pretty simple, much like MS Paint in fact. Just a few basic colours and an option to alternate between fill-paint and color-pencil. Your work on the empty templates is saved, or you can redo the entire thing from scratch. There is also an app community on Tumblr where you can submit your creations to show everyone. While I’m no Picasso, the app is simple and fun to use, which should satisfy most of you. Give it a try on Android phones. Tapet ![Tapet](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Tapet.jpg) No matter how many wallpapers are available for download on the internet, there’s something about custom wallpapers that we all like. Tapet is a wallpaper generator that uses mathematical functions to generate wallpapers that can then be customized according to you. You can either select a pre-made wallpaper from a huge collection (Over a gazillion!), or have the app generate one for you by swiping up on the app, and then left or right to change preferences. The wallpapers are svelte, abstract and complement my phone perfectly, since the function also maps your phone’s screen size and designs a wallpaper that suits the maximum screen resolution. It’s a decent, lightweight app that relies on algorithms to make your phone look good. Give it a try on Android phones. Guitar+ ![GuitarPlus2](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/GuitarPlus2.png) This is by far the most fun app in this week’s collection, for me at least. Guitar+ is a tool/game for those interested in playing that alluring instrument. You start off right away in learning mode and try to play a string at the right moment, much like Guitar Hero. There are quite a lot of songs to choose from, each obviously varying in complexity and speed. The stops have the fret numbers written on them to help you learn the song on a real guitar by referencing the app as well. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you can start with chords, create your own strumming patterns, and even sing the song along with the chords. Again, the song library is just enormous, with songs from classical music to more modern rock hits. Give it a try on Android phones.  Chatous ![Chatous](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Chatous.jpg) Chatous is the app equivalent of Omegle, the anonymous chatroom of the internet. One can log in via Facebook and join conversations with people of similar interests. The app goes through your page ‘likes’ on Facebook and then proceeds to find a match to someone who has liked the same pages. You can also find friends online and set up chatrooms with them as well. Chatroom also has a Snapchat-like feature in the form of expiring photos: send a photo and it will only stay for a short while before getting deleted. Interestingly, you also have the option of talking to the preferred sex, but at a premium. It costs you 10 credits (available for real money) to get this feature unlocked. Apart from this limitation, Chatous is a great alternative to Omegle for phones. Give it a try on Android phones.    Kabali ![Kabali](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Kabali.jpg) Well here it is! The app for the movie that’s been taking the country by storm, resulting in IT companies providing leave to their employees. The Kabali app is an official app for the movie made by ArtQueen Studios and is currently a trending app on the Play Store for obvious reasons. The app is a newsboard, image gallery, movie-wiki and contest page all rolled into one. You log in with an OTP sent to your phone and from there, you can view the gallery/info pages, check out individual information about the cast and crew, or participate and vote in fanart and other similar contests. The teaser of said movie continuously plays in the background as a reminder to go watch the full film. You can also share any of the photos/videos and info to other social media platforms, enticing friends to go download the app. One thing’s for sure, Rajnikanth fans won’t get enough of it for days to come. Give it a try on Android phones.
