Leaked video shows Apple iOS 8 split-screen multitasking for iPad

Though we’ve been hearing about Apple working on split-screen apps for iOS 8 powered iPads, the company did not announce any such feature at the recently held WWDC . The split-screen apps functionality has been used extensively in recently released Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and also Android-based Samsung devices. Though late to the party, it looks like Apple is still working to bring the feature to iOS users. The company has featured the must have function as a part of its iOS 8 SDK, reveals a report by 9to5Mac .

When developer Steven Troughton-Smith did some snooping around by hacking in to the iOS 8 iPad Simulator where he got the split-screen multitasking function to work partially. According to the images uploaded along with his tweets, Safari takes up half the display. Though the function has not been fully developed, the split-screen function allows the user to run two apps simultaneously side by side.

The new feature will also allow the user to adjust the screen size for apps. It either takes up one-fourth or three-fourth of the display. As Apple hasn’t confirmed the feature for iOS 8, it could still be in development, and could also make it in time for the next iPad launch.
