There have been talks of a new Nokia phablet being in the works for some time now. These reports have apparently been confirmed, courtesy of website PhoneArena .
PhoneArena has posted the leaked photo which was first posted by Chinese website ICTech .
The leaked photo displays one unique feature: an incredibly thin bezel (the metal boundary around the phone screen). There is also a tiny hole in the screen, which is presumably for a front-facing camera.
The new phablet is expected to be in direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Mega series and Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra.
ICTech says that mass production of the phablet has already begun, and it’s “only a matter of time” before the announcement is made.
Reports had first emerged in June about Nokia working on two phablets ahead of the July 11 Nokia event in New York. The report, which came via Nokia Power User, had said that one of the phablets, which was expected to launch around September of this year, would come with a camera similar to that of Lumia 925 and would carry a 5.5-inch or 6-inch display. This information matches the leaked photo of the new phablet.
Earlier this week, Nokia launched the Lumia 625 which has 4G connectivity and a 4.7-inch super-sensitive LCD screen, which had the largest screen of Nokia products - besides this new product.
