Last year, Nokia made a comeback of sorts with the N1 Android-based tablet, and we've also been hearing about the C1 Android smartphone. Now, a new NokiaPowerUser report points out at the possible renders claiming to be the Nokia C1.
What caught our attention is the device will be made available in two variants - one running Android and the other with Windows 10. The Android variant shows the Z Launcher UI. There is no word on the authenticity of these images, and let's take them with a pinch of salt, for now.
There have been reports about Nokia planning a comeback in the smartphone market in 2016, and then soon there were reports refuting the claim as well. However, a couple of months ago, we did a few more images of the alleged Nokia C1 running Android appear online. The report also added specs such as 5-inch display with 1080p resolution, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and 2GB RAM.
According to a previous report, Nokia Technologies is known for licensing the company’s portfolio of over 10,000 patents. This division has launched two products namely, Z launcher program and the N1 Android tablet design that is being sold in China by another manufacturer using the Nokia brand name. The report also quoted a former Nokia executive saying that ‘Nokia is a company that is not going away’ and ‘people will be blown away if some of the stuff he saw comes to market’.
However, all this won’t come until late 2016, owing to some negotiations between Nokia and Microsoft. The Finnish company can sell smartphones under the Nokia brand only after December 2015.
