With the release of the much awaited BlackBerry 10 round the corner, surprising leaks seem to be enticing users. Leaked images have sprung up on the Internet suggesting the newest OS from Research in Motion, (RIM) BlackBerry 10, will have video calling and screen sharing capabilities.

Slides from a supposed internal BlackBerry 10 presentation that has been doing the rounds on the Internet were first posted on to the CrackBerry forums, suggesting that video calling and screen sharing will be newest additions to BlackBerry phones.

Another leaked slide highlights that a new app called BlackBerry Remember could be added to the OS. BlackBerry Remember is said to be the replacement for RIM’s native Tasks App on the OS. Both the images have since been removed from CrackBerry, but not before websites managed to lay their hands on it.

Earlier this week, screenshots of BlackBerry 10 were leaked on CrackBerry, giving a glimpse of the OS nearly a month before the launch. The leaked images showed the initial setup process along with some of the apps that are to be featured on the BlackBerry 10 OS, such as native apps for Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare amongst others. The screenshots showed that RIM, known for its no-nonsense UI, has gone an extra mile to make the newest OS look simple yet the type of classy they’re known for.

Amongst other leaks of the OS, a leaked press shot of what is to be the first BlackBerry 10 handset has already caused ripples of excitement amongst users. The handset, previously known as the BlackBerry 10 L-Series handset, will now be marketed as ‘The New BlackBerry Z10.’ The official press shot was revealed by UnwiredView along with serial tipster, @Evleaks. The images showed that the handset will be available in both colours – black and white.

As announced officially by RIM itself, the new BlackBerry Z10 is to be a complete touchscreen device, while another device with keyboard is also in works. According to UnwiredView, it is to be christened BlackBerry X10.

The BlackBerry 10 launch event is set to be held on January 30, 2013 and according to a CrackBerry report, invites are already being handed out by RIM. The launch events are slated to be held in cities around the world, including New York, Toronto, London, Paris, Johannesburg and Dubai. The day will mark the official launch of RIM’s new platform, BlackBerry 10, as well as the unveiling of the first two BlackBerry 10 smartphones. Details on the smartphones and their availability will be officially announced at the event.

BlackBerry 10 is set to offer a large catalogue of leading applications from across the globe and across categories like Games, Productivity, Social, Lifestyle and Leisure, Multimedia and Published Content, as well as applications designed for business and enterprise use.

The BlackBerry 10 platform recently achieved FIPS 140-2 certification, which means government agencies will be able to deploy BlackBerry 10 smartphones and BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 as soon as it is available. RIM claims that this marks the first time BlackBerry products have been certified ahead of their launch.
