Leaked Facebook data shows 54,000 reports of revenge porn and sextortion in just one month

The Guardian has received a cache of leaked documents related to Facebook, which includes training manuals, handbooks for moderators, spreadsheets, flowcharts and more. The leaked documents show that Facebook received 54,000 reports of sexual extortion and revenge porn in just the month of January. 14,130 accounts were taken down as a result, and moderators escalated 33 cases that involved minors. Facebook admits that it makes the most mistakes when it comes to posts of a sexual nature, as moderating such content is more complex. For more than five years now, Facebook has been accused of **having a mind of a teenager** . There is more tolerance towards blood and gore, than nudity or sexually explicit material. Nipples are not fine, but crushed heads are ok. According to the leaked documents, Facebook will not delete photos and videos of violence, self-harm and child abuse if the content is not sexual in nature, as the media may draw attention to mental illnesses or be newsworthy. The **leaked documents** also show only the cases of revenge porn and sextortion that have been reported to the moderators on Facebook. The actual extent of such activity could be far more considering the number of people who would not want to report the incidents. The cases reported are from all over the world.
