Leaked benchmark scores confirm Android v4.2 on Nexus 4

As per the results visible on a leaked  GLBenchmark, we can see that the Nexus 4 will indeed be running on Android v4.2, confirming the operating system the handset will run on.

In a related report by GSMArena, the author states, “The LG Nexus 4, under the codename Mako, has surfaced in the GLBenchmark scoreboard, securing itself a top 4 place, just behind the Pantech Vega IM-A850, Asus PadFone 2 and the Xiaomi MI-2. All of these, like the Nexus 4, are rocking a Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with the Adreno 320 GPU. The published information on the GLBenchmark website cites Android 4.2 as the OS running on the Nexus 4, which all but confirms the next Nexus will come with it out of box.”

There is no official word yet on the name of the Android v4.2 OS, but rumours indicate that the Jelly Bean branding will remain and it will not be called Key Lime Pie.

For those not in the know, in a recent interview with IBNLive, Amit Gujral, Head of Mobile Product Planning at LG, at the Optimus Vu event stated that the upcoming handset from Google co-manufactured by LG will be unveiled on October 29, and will be launched in India by the end of November. Gujral also shed light on some of the specifications featuring in the upcoming smartphone. It will have a 4.7-inch display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, and will run on Google’s upcoming mobile operating system, Android v4.2.

The details of the next Google smartphone have already being doing the rounds on the Internet. A recent post on Twitter had revealed in detail some of the highlighted features expected to be found on it. As per the earlier tweet, the tipster @Evleaks stated, “LG Nexus 4 (E960): Quad-core APQ8064 @1.5GHz, 4.7"@1280x768, 2GB/16GB(8GB), 8MP/1.3MP, JB MR1, 2100mAh, 9.1mm, 139g.”

This matches up with previous rumours about the smartphone featuring Qualcomm’s 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro with Adreno 320 GPU. The Nexus 4 is expected to come with 2GB of RAM, a 1280 x 768 True-High Definition IPS display, an 8-megapixel camera, and a non-removable battery. It will also have no microSD slot, and between 8GB and 16GB of internal storage. This concurs with recent leaks about the LG Nexus 4, codenamed E960 Mako. According to a recent report, a Belarusian website Onliner.by has got its hands on LG’s Nexus 4 smartphone, and has published a review of the device. Judging from the images of the device, it looks extremely similar to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The major differences in the appearance of the phones are that the Nexus 4 doesn’t sport the same curved screen that is present on the Galaxy Nexus, and the presence of a chrome ring around the bezel. LG has opted for a flat back panel with a smooth and glossy design. The Nexus 4 also lacks the connectors for accessories that can be found on the Galaxy Nexus.
