Leak shows iPhone 6 with large display, iPad-like body

Everybody agrees that the next iPhone will really show Apple has adapted to the changing landscape of the smartphone market. While Apple continues to be the lone champion of devices with reasonably-sized displays, everyone else has moved on from 4-inch range. So Apple will also be bringing an iPhone with a larger display later this year.

The iPhone 6 has been rumoured to have a 4.8-inch display for many months now and we have heard that the display will curve on to the edges, which themselves will resemble the new iPads.

And now we have alleged images of the new iPhone from Italian Apple blog Macitynet. It shows the alleged iPhone 6 next to a dummy Galaxy S5. The first thing you notice is that the phones are nearly identical in dimension. The iPhone is slightly shorter, while the smaller bezels make the phone narrower than the S5 as well. It must be noted that the Galaxy S5 is housed in a water-resistant body, which definitely adds extra mm to the bezel.

Secondly, the pictures show the rounded edges and the smooth brushed aluminium back of the iPhone. The metal strip on the top and bottom are retained by Apple from the current gen iPhone 5s, while the camera seems to have just one flash. Apple has scratched out the capsule design of the current flash and has gone with a more traditional circular cutout.

Finally, the home button seems to have the same shiny ring on the outside, like the 5s. Obviously, we can be rest assured that TouchID will make a reappearance.

Apple will likely announce the new iPhones in Q3 this year, with an eye on the lucrative holiday season for booming sales.
