Apple is set to unveil its flagship iPhone 6
next month, but looks like there’s tough competition waiting in the wings even before its launch. Photos of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha
went viral after a tipster leaked them on Weibo. Looking at the photos, it’s easy to tell where Samsung has got its design inspirations from. The Galaxy Alpha sports a rectangular, grooved metal design with beveled edges that are decidedly Apple. The photos also suggest that Samsung has ditched its trademark candy-bar design and gone for a brick-like design made popular after the iPhone 4. Samsung has also chosen a smaller, 4.7-inch display, which is odd considering most of its high-end smartphones feature screen sizes over five inches. However, unlike the iPhone, The Galaxy Alpha will have a removable back cover and a dimpled rubber finish. [caption id=“attachment_228519” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”]
Image: SamMobile[/caption] The Galaxy Alpha would go head to head with the iPhone 6 even in terms of specifications. Reports from SamMobile
suggest that the phone will feature a fingerprint scanner and a bright Super AMOLED display of 1280 x 720 pixels. We’ve seen the Super AMOLED display on Samsung’s Tab S range of tablets and they are just as sharp as Apple’s Retina Display. The Galaxy Alpha will run on a octa-core Exynos 5 processor, which means it should be pretty nippy for simple as well as intensive use. Other features include a 12MP main camera and a 2.1MP front camera, and 32GB of built-in storage.
Samsung and Apple has just buried the hatchet
by ending their three-year patent battle. We wonder if the Galaxy Alpha could reignite the battle once again.
