Now has Ice Cream Sandwich

The Lava XOLO X900 was launched in India back in April . The TFT LCD display of the phone features Corning’s Gorilla Glass. The phone ships with Android v2.3 (Gingerbread). It is 10.9mm thick, and weighs 127 grams; so it’s fairly slim and light. It’s a quad-band GSM and 3G phone with support for HSPA+. The highlight of this phone is the new Medfield CPU from Intel, the Z2460. Based on the 32nm fabrication process, the Z2460 SoC features a single core CPU running at 1.6GHz along with the usual Intel features such as HyperThreading and Burst Performance Technology (or TurboBoost). The graphics are taken care of by PowerVR SGX540 GPU, which is clocked at 400MHz. There’s also support for 1080p video playback and recording. Intel is also banking heavily on its new Smart Idle Technology for better battery life than its competitors. This feature allows the CPU core and rest of the processor to switch off while the OS is still functioning.

Here are some of the highlights of the phone:

  • 4.03-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth, NFC
  • 8MP camera with AF, LED flash, and 1080p HD video recording
  • 1.3MP front camera
  • 16GB Internal memory

Back in June, Lenovo launched its phone based on Intel’s Medfield platform, the K800 . Chen Xudong, Senior Vice President of Lenovo Group, said during the launch of the phone, “As Lenovo’s first smartphone with Intel inside, the launch of LePhone K800 has milestone significance.” He continues, “LePhone K800 represents an innovative achievement for Lenovo in the PC+ era, as well, a significant progress for Lenovo in smartphone market segment. Lenovo and Intel will continue to intensify their cooperation, integrating respective advantages in technology and resources to introduce more and better products and to explore the new frontier of the mobile Internet together.”

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
