LastPass, which claims to be the world’s most popular password manager, has now made its app free for users on smartphones and tablets. However, users need to pay a fee of $12 to sync all information with a computer. The app is also free if you are using it on your desktop. “People often hear about useful apps on the go and want to get started right away from their smartphone,” said Joe Siegrist, CEO of LastPass. “This new freemium model allows LastPass users to get started with our password manager on the device of their choice.” LastPass’ free password manager helps centralise passwords and logins, store secure notes, auto-fill website logins, share sensitive information with others. However, to sync across an unlimited number of devices including desktops, laptops, smartphones and tablets, users need to upgrade to the Premium account which is priced at $12 a year. The company offers a free 14-day trial of the paid Premium subscription as well. During the trial, users will have unlimited sync across devices and access LastPass on any device. The company also stated that those users who recently started using the paid trial for the app will automatically see their accounts transformed into a free account.
