Hideo Kojima is known for his radical approach to storytelling in video games, one of the biggest examples of which is the Metal Gear series. During the developer session at the Eurogamer Expo, Kojima talked about his current and past projects, and according to StickTwiddlers , Konami has approached Kojima to make the next Silent Hill game.

The Silent Hill games were once one of the first recommendations you’d get if you asked someone what a good horror game was. The series is famous for its dark symbolism and mysterious storylines, along with sometimes awful voice acting. With Hideo Kojima added to the mix, we can surely expect some massive fourth-wall breaking  mind screw , along with the regular horror-filled mind screw that you’ll get with the game.

When talking about making a Silent Hill game, Kojima said that he would make it in the style of a horror movie. He would make it a special type of horror movie that only those who get scared by films could create. Kojima has admitted to being a scaredy cat when it comes to horror movies. Shortly after the statement, Konami asked Kojima to make the next Silent Hill game.

So I just uhh go home now?

The American-made Silent Hill games have not been very good

Kojima’s current project has been the latest game in the Metal Gear Solid series, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. The game got a trailer earlier this month where Kojima demonstrated the open world nature of the game, along with the protagonist of the game. Players will once again be stepping into the shoes of Big Boss, a.k.a. Naked Snake – the protagonist from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Though there isn’t any information about the new Metal Gear Solid game other than this, we’re headed closer towards the release of the spin-off title, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance . Where Metal Gear Solid is the story of Solid Snake (and in some cases, his ‘father’ Naked Snake), Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be the story of Raiden, the child soldier turned cyborg ninja.

The title brings two of the world’s most respected teams together with a common goal of providing players with a fresh synergetic experience that combines the best elements of pure action and epic storytelling, all within the expansive Metal Gear universe. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance introduces Raiden as the central character; a child soldier transformed into a cyborg ninja, equipped with a high-frequency katana blade and a soul fuelled by revenge.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is set in the near future where cyborg technology has become commonplace throughout society. Three years have passed since the collapse of the Patriots system that had been secretly controlling the global power balance from the shadows. However, peace remains elusive. The dissemination of cybernetic technology has triggered instability and conflict as those who control the trade gain increasing power. Furthermore, large ‘Private Military Companies’, or PMCs, that had been supported and controlled by the Patriots have collapsed, spawning countless rogue entities with origins to larger criminal organisations. These renegade PMCs employing cyborg technology have become increasingly more disruptive shifting policy and power at will. As a member of the peace-keeping PMC ‘Maverick Security’, Raiden lives by the mantra of protecting and saving lives. But as the world plunges further into asymmetric warfare, the only path that leads him forward is rooted in resolving his past and carving through anything that stands in his way.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will see a release in February 2013.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
