Kodak Ektra smartphone to hit stores on 9 December, to sell in Germany for 499 Euros

Kodak and Bullitt Group had announced the launch of the Kodak Ektra, a brand new smartphone aimed at photographers. Now, news has it that the device is all set to hit store shelves on 9 December in Germany priced at €499 that is approximately Rs 36,000. There is no word on the device coming to other regions yet. The Ektra runs a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 clocked at 2.3GHz and includes 3GB DDR3 RAM. The smartphone sports a 5-inch Full HD display and runs Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box. However, there was no announcement of Android Nougat 7.0 or the upcoming Android Nougat 7.1. The Exmor RS sensor comes with Phase detection Auto Focus (PDAF), Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and f/2.0 aperture along with dual-LED flash. On the front, it gets a 13MP camera module with PDAF and f/2.2 aperture. The smartphone comes equipped with ambient light, accelerometer, proximity and gyroscope sensors. The smartphone will offer manual mode with control on shutter speed, white balance, ISO and focus, but no aperture controls. The smartphone comes covered with artificial “leatherette” material and metal sides to give it a retro look and it also has a curved grip. Though the camera hump on the back seems like a proper DSLR-grade sensor and camera lens, but it isn’t, and one will find the same mobile camera sensor and lens. The industrial design and form-factor will remind you of point-and-shoot cameras with the shutter button. The connectivity options include 4G-enabled Nano SIM slot, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth v4.1, 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, and USB Type-C port.
