Kingston Technology has announced two new HyperX DDR2 memory sticks that are aimed at the enthusiast market. The KHX9200D2/XX and KHX9600D2/XX have a clockspeed of 1.15 GHz and 1.2 GHz respectively and are rated at a CAS latency of 5. These new memory sticks are being offered both as standalone and in matched pairs. For standalone, the capacity being offered is 512 MB. For matched pairs, Kingston is offering the memory in 1 GB and 2 GB pairs, which is aimed at dual-channel users.
These new chips have been tested by ASUS for compatibility across the board (ATI, Intel and Nvidia chipsets). Raymond Chen,Vice President of Marketing for ASUS claimed, “It is clear that these modules, paired with high performance ASUS motherboards,bring the ultimate in high frequency gaming memory to PC enthusiasts.”
These new modules are available straight away.The pricing starts at $137 for a single 512MB KHX9200 module and levels out at $525 for a 2 GB KHX9600 pair.
