Veteran game developer Peter Molyneux-led studio 22cans has been hard at work with his upcoming crowdfunded game Godus. According to Polygon , the company announced at the ongoing PAX Prime that Godus will be seeing its first public release on September 13. The game’s beta will be available through Steam Early Access. It is set to cost $19.99 (1,313 approx).

Godus is set to deliver global co-operation, competition, creation and destruction to a new generation of gamers. This hints to a heavy emphasis on multiplayer and social aspect. Molyneux has cited Populous as one of the inspirations for Godus.

While the original Populous was one of the first god-games, it has been over 22 years since the game’s release. There haven’t been many god-games in recent times, except for attempts at the genre by Molyneux in the early 2000s through the Black & White series.

According to the company, Godus will blend the power, growth and scope of Populous with the multiplayer aspect of games such as Dungeon Keeper along with the interface of Black & White.

While the genre has had a history of being difficult to get into, 22Cans promises that Godus will be a much more accessible and easy to learn game. However, the game will not be dumbed down and will still have depth in terms of gameplay. The game will see a release on PC and mobile devices, and may see a release on other platforms as the Kickstarter campaign progresses.

“For a long time I’ve been excited with how the game is evolving, [and> I already feel there is nothing in the world like Godus,” said Molyneux in a press release announcing Early Access. “This is the type of game I have dreamt of making since first getting into the industry; having people play the beta and give us valuable feedback while doing so, makes that dream a reality.”

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
