Karbonn, one of India’s top smartphone vendors, has launched a new smartphone in a category that’s becoming increasingly crowded and will see new launches later this year. Karbonn has launched the Titanium S19, which is what it calls a selfie smartphone. It’s been priced at Rs 8,999.
The selfie smartphone positioning is thanks to a Sony Exmor sensor for the 13MP rear camera and a meaty 5MP front camera. The camera features of the S19 include voice-based capture (for selfies, of course) and a live photo mode, which will show you current frame through many filters. The camera has an F2.0 aperture and has support for 1080P videos.
The Titanium S19 features a 5-Inch HD IPS display with OGS technology. It’s powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, which is most likely a MediaTek make. Running Android 4.4 KitKat, the phone features 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage which can be expanded further by up to 32GB.
As expected it comes with dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth support. It also gets USB on the go. Lastly there’s a 2000 mAh battery that sounds great given the other features.
While manufacturers have been adding 5-megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors for the front camera for over a year now, the craze of selfies has not died down. Microsoft will be releasing a selfie smartphone in the Lumia 730 next month, while Sony has already announced one in the form of the Xperia C.
