Karbonn launches Smart A1 Star and A5 Star with 3.5-inch displays

Karbonn has quietly launched a couple of budget smartphones. The handsets, dubbed the Smart A1 Star and the A5 Star, are available on online shopping websites. The Karbonn Smart A1 Star is priced at Rs 3,514, while the A5 Star is priced at Rs 4,790. Both handsets are aiming for the ultra-affordable sub-5,000 price range. Both the A1 Star and the A5 Star are dual-SIM handsets.

The Smart A1 Star sports a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. This gives it a pixel density of 165 ppi. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1GHz processor coupled with 256MB of RAM. Out of the box, the smartphone runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Connectivity options include 2G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the back is a 3 megapixel shooter, and the front has a VGA camera. It has 512MB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card. It is kept alive by a 1,450 mAh battery.

The A5 Star also has a 3.5-inch display and the same 480 x 320 pixel resolution. It comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box. The smartphone is powered by a 1GHz processor along with 512MB of RAM. The back of the device has a 3.2 megapixel camera, but it lacks a front-facing shooter. Connectivity options include 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Internal memory stands at 512MB, which is expandable up to 32GB with a microSD card. The handset is kept running by a 1,200 mAh battery.
