Sony has announced the new line-up of games that will be free to PlayStation Plus subscribers in the month of July. For PlayStation 3 owners, Battlefield 3, Jet Set Radio and Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD will be free. PlayStation Vita owners get Metal Slug XX (also compatible with the PlayStation Portable) and Dokuro. Out of these, the first game to hit the Instant Game Collection will be Battlefield 3 today.
The games leaving the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection are Deus Ex: Human Revolution on July 2, Joe Danger 2 The Movie on July 9, The Cave on July 16, Germinator on July 23 and Zero's Escape: Virtue's Last Reward on July 30.
Battlefield 3 is a modern military-based FPS with a heavy emphasis on its multiplayer component. The game, as with other titles in the series, is famous for allowing the use of a variety of combat vehicles like tanks, jets and helicopters on large maps. It also has a single-player campaign, but it is highly linear and has a lacklustre story.
Jet Set Radio is one of the free games this month
Jet Set Radio is a game where you join up with an up-and-coming street gang in the futuristic city of Tokyo-to—the GGs—as you fight for the right of self-expression. Rolling through crowded urban environments on magnetically-driven inline skates, you take control of gang leader Beat and his growing posse of artists as they steal turf from local gangs by covering the city with graffiti.
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee is the third game in the Oddworld series, which originally made its debut on the PlayStation. It revolves around Munch, who is the last of his kind—the Gabbits. Munch teams up with previous games' protagonist Abe to win the last can of Gabbiar (caviar made from Gabbit eggs) in existence. It is notable for being the first 3D game in the series.
Along with these games, there are also a bunch of discounts for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
