Judge orders rapper Meek Mill to take Twitter etiquette classes

So you think you can get away with tweeting exactly what you please? Well, this will make you reconsider. While we’ve heard of netizens getting jailed or even reprimanded and rebuked for shooting their mouths off on social networking websites, this up-and-coming rapper has been ordered to attend etiquette classes to improve his tweeting.

Rapper Meek Mill from Philadelphia was ordered by a judge last week to take etiquette classes after his Twitter behaviour caused trouble. On probation for a 2008 drug and gun conviction, Mill had served eight of his 11 to 23 months in prison. He has been on probation since 2009.

Some of Mill’s inflammatory tweets caused his fans to issue threats to his probation officer via Twitter. Of course, while this move may have been in accordance with the thug life, the judge was going to have none of it.

The lack of Twitter manners displayed by Mill was only one of the problems that emerged during his parole violation hearing. The aggrieved probation officer must have smarted a little over the situation as Mill was ordered to provide him with details of all his travel plans.

Mill has been asked to meet Philadelphia radio host Dyana Williams, who will conduct classes for the rapper. The judge said Williams conduct the class thanks to her knowledge of the music business. And while she may not have as many followers as Mill on Twitter, she will be working hard to get Mill to mind his Ps and Qs on the micro-blogging website.

The judge signed off by saying that the etiquette classes were “more important than any concerts he might have.”

She also obsesses about ACP Pradyuman and South Park and you will always find her moving around with a book. Her focus is on all the happening stuff in the tech domain, and she won't hesitate to take a shot at some of the oddball devices that make their way to our labs.
