'Jio Welcome Offer' garners 16 million customers in just 26 days

Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd today announced that it reached new heights by enrolling 16 million subscribers in just the first month of its operations. Starting out in September, Jio broke a world record by achieving the this growth in just 26 days. As a telecom operator Jio has achieved this growth faster than any other startup, including the likes of Facebook, WhatsApp and even Skype. Mr. Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries Limited, said, “We are delighted and humbled by the overwhelming response across India to the Jio Welcome Offer. We are customer-obsessed and committed to improve every day to exceed expectations of our customers.” The telecom giant also introduced an Aadhaar-based paper-less Jio SIM activation across 3,100 cities and towns which could be the reason as to how it achieved this feat apart from its popularity. Using Aadhaar-based paper-less Jio SIM activation enables the customer to complete the SIM activation process in a matter of minutes. All of this can be done with just his/her Aadhaar card number. Reliance Jio Infocomm said that this process will be extended across the country and fully stabilized for satisfactory on-boarding experience in the coming weeks.
