Jio AirFiber launched in 8 metro cities, here's all you need to know

Jio AirFiber has been launched on Tuesday across eight Indian metro cities - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. Launched by telecom giant Reliance Jio on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Jio AirFiber’s tariff starts at Rs 599 for a 30 Mbps speed connection and offers 550 plus digital channels, 14 plus OTT apps. The plan extends to Jio AirFiber Max which offers 1000 Mbps speed connection at Rs 3,999 with 550 plus digital channels and 14 plus OTT Apps. Jio AirFiber plans are available in six months or one year options. The launch date was announced last month by Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani during the company’s 46th Annual General Meeting on 28 August. In the meeting, Mukesh Ambani had said that Jio AirFiber uses pan-India 5G network and advanced wireless technologies to bypass the need for last-mile fiber. “Through optical fiber, we can currently connect around 15,000 premises daily. But with Jio AirFiber, we can supercharge this expansion with up to 150,000 connections per day. That is a ten-fold increase, expanding our addressable market over the next three years to over 200 million high-paying homes and premises,” Mukesh Ambani said. Jio AirFiber supports Wi-Fi 6, has parental controls, and is fitted with a security firewall. It also lays the groundwork for Jio’s Smart Home solutions, which include the Jio Home Router, the Jio Set-top Box, and the Jio Home smartphone app. Jio AirFiber delivers fiber-like speed over the air without any wires. What users need to do is to just plug it in, turn it on, and they will have a personal Wi-Fi hotspot at their homes. Jio AirFiber is a Fixed Wireless Access solution that brings clutter-free high-speed connectivity of up to 1 Gbps to homes and offices. Multiple devices, including smartphones, PCs, tablets, smart TVs, and set-top boxes can be connected simultaneously without compromising on internet speed.

According to Jio, using Jio AirFiber, customers “opt to use a virtual PC hosted in the cloud”. A virtual PC is essentially an extremely powerful computer that is housed in a server. Each computer will be able to support multiple simultaneous connections and, if the user’s internet speed is high enough, will provide a seamless experience that simulates a local PC experience. Jio AirFiber comes with a vast optical fiber network extending over 1.5 million kilometres across India. Jio has established proximity to more than 200 million premises. How to get Jio AirFiber? Step 1: Give a missed call on 60008-60008 to start booking on WhatsApp or visit www.jio.com or visit your nearest Jio Store Step 2: Book your Jio AirFiber connection by registering in few steps Step 3: Once registration is complete, you will receive confirmation Step 4: Jio will get in touch with you and connect your home on priority, as soon as services in your building are ready. Network18 and TV18 – the companies that operate Firstpost – are controlled by Independent Media Trust, of which Reliance Industries is the sole beneficiary.
