When Jay-Z and Samsung sat down to give Magna Carta Holy Grail a pre-launch with Samsung , they probably didn’t see this coming. The album has leaked and is available all over, even as Samsung owners are complaining of not being able to download the album.
Samsung had purchased one million copies of Jay-Z’s newest album Magna Carta Holy Grail to give away to owners of Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 2. The album was to be made available today using a special application. Even before the album became available to phone owners today, it had already leaked on the Interwebz. When the users tried to download the album using the app, they were shown error messages and faced delays.

To rub salt on the wounds of music aficionados who downloaded the app, it was revealed that Samsung was making only the “clean” version of the album available to them. According to a report by The Verge, the explicit version of the album leaked even while Samsung users had to be satisfied with the censored one.
We wonder what good a rap album is, if it isn’t in its uncensored glory. Samsung owners will now have to reconcile themselves to the fact that they may have to shell out money to buy the album even while it is making its way to peer-to-peer sharing websites already.
Jay-Z, meanwhile, couldn’t be bothered much. His recent album is about to go platinum even without it having officially released. The RIAA announced that it had altered its Gold and Platinum requirements to accommodate Samsung’s promotional activity with Jay-Z. While Billboard will not be considering the digital albums sold to Samsung, Magna Carta Holy Grail is a hit already.
