Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 4 represents one of the most crucial products in the company’s line-up, **as it battles competition from all sides around the world** . The original Note of course underlined Samsung’s status as the prima donna of the Android world and the next one could very well be its biggest hope **as Apple prepares to launch large-screen iPhones in September.** Naturally, a lot of attention is on what Samsung could pack in to the Note 4 and we have had a bunch of leaks in that regard, but today we may have got our first glimpse of the Note 4. GSMArena got its hands on some leaked images of the alleged phone, which show a typical Samsung faux-leather back, along with the Note 4’s front face and two shots of its back. Interestingly, the photos show Samsung giving the edges of the phone a metal treatment, so we could very well be seeing a change in Samsung’s design strategy for higher-end phones. Remember, **the Galaxy Alpha, which we have got a closer look at,** will also have a similar metal used for the edges and the internal chassis. [caption id=“attachment_228794” align=“alignnone” width=“640”] The alleged Note 4 looks sleek in this leaked image (Image courtesy: GSMArena)[/caption] Looking closer at the images, we can see the S-Pen slot on the bottom, along with a USB 3.0 interface, and mono speaker. Since we haven’t seen the top of the phone, it’s not yet clear whether we will see a speaker grille up top too (this is the case on the excellent Galaxy Tab S 8.4). The edges are clearly metal since there are cut-outs for plastic inserts in the bottom, which is most likely the place where Samsung puts the cellular radios. The back of the phone sports a slight hump on the bottom, where the metal edge meets the leather back, while a heart-rate monitor is next to the camera lens. The bezels on the front look quite thin, which is great since the Note 4 will definitely have a large display. So looks like Samsung has pretty much hit all the right points when it comes to keeping the phone compact. One thing that will not change from previous Samsung phones is the practice of using a physical hardware key, along with capacitive keys. Samsung, it looks like, will remain the biggest Android device makers to eschew on-screen buttons. Overall, the phone sports a squarer look than last year’s Note 3. As for specs, the Note 4 will likely have a 5.7-inch QHD display with a 2560x1440 pixels of resolution, along with TouchWiz and Android KitKat. It will also likely have an eye-scanner technology, **along with a UV sensor** , which ties in to Samsung’s S Health app. On the processing speed front, **the device is speculated to pack in an octa-core Exynos CPU** or a Snapdragon 800-series SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM. The company might well build both variants. The rumoured feature list also includes 128GB onboard storage, though that seems like a long shot at the moment, a new handwriting-recognition technology for unlocking the device and a battery ranging between 3600mAh and 3800mAh, which would give it enough power to last the day.
