By now, we’ve all accepted that our phones are an extension of ourselves. But a new study done by TalkTalk, the British telecom company, suggests that the kind of phone we choose might reflect more than we realise about our personalities. The study spoke to over 2,000 smartphone users.

The study, which was reported in Metro.co.uk, suggests that iPhone, Blackberry and Android users each have very distinct personality types, as well as the kind of lifestyle they choose to indulge in. According to the study, iPhone users tend to be vain and consider themselves to be good-looking. When asked to rate themselves physically, iPhone users gave themselves an average of six on ten, whereas Blackberry users gave themselves a five.

But Blackberry users needn’t despair - they were proven to be earning more than iPhone users, and even working less for it. Those who have a BlackBerry earn nearly 2,500 more per year than iPhone users.

iPhone users characterise themselves as “daring, flirty, bright and confident”, and spend more money on clothes and grooming than other phone users.

Blackberry users, on the other hand, are more likely to be in a long-term relationship and have the most friends. They also call and text more than iPhone users. Android users work the hardest, but also consume the most alcohol. They are also likely to be devoted television addicts and describe themselves as “shy, quiet and calm.”
