A Chinese thief who stole an iPhone painstakingly wrote out more than a 1,000 contacts and send it back to the person whom he stole the person from, after the person threatened the thief with dire repurcussions.
According to a report which appeared in The Independent, the pickpocket stole the phone while sharing a taxi with his victim. The person then texted his own number after the theft, saying: “Look through the contact numbers in my mobile and you will know what trade I am in,” he said “Send me back the phone to the address below if you are sensible.”

According to an AFP story, the victim works for the pub industry, which in China is believed to have contacts with gangs.
A few days later, the person received a parcl containing his SIM card, as well as 11 pages of carefully hand-written contacts.
“It would take a while to write from one to one thousand, let alone names and a whole string of digits. I suppose (the thief’s) hand is swelling,” Zou was quoted as saying.
