Apple launched its much-awaited iPhones at last night’s event in San Francisco. Contrary to the many leaks and rumours that came up just before the launch, there was no 4K capture at 60fps , no iPhone 7 Pro and none of the presenters even gave a hint about VR for mobile that’s going to be big with Google’s Daydream launch coming up. That said, Apple did have plenty to present in what was a really long keynote . This would include a brand new colour called Jet Black (this is big for Apple), better cameras with OIS, a brand new home button (that does not do anything new) and an IP 67 rating for dust and water resistance. Indeed Android smartphone owners waiting for a good reason to switch to iOS, will have to wait another year , but this year’s announcement had plenty of Apple’s own fans voicing out their opinions. Many just did not like the idea of a missing 3.5mm headphone jack and that’s for good reason because well there’s no wireless charging. https://twitter.com/BigParkaveli/status/773747382634815488 https://twitter.com/jochappy/status/773680715804258304 So you can either choose to charge your iPhone, or listen to music via the lightning EarPods. Why did Apple not include wireless charging? Well, there’s that metal body that everyone loves that comes in between. Apple’s solution to the missing headphone jack was not well received either. https://twitter.com/DJ_KnightHood/status/773655190834712576 But some were OK with the fact that buyers will not have to purchase one separately. https://twitter.com/MoustafaHadary/status/773694258670731265 Then came the pot shots at the obvious Apple AirPods. Boring design or a better resemblance to a hair dryer, you decide! https://twitter.com/tonystarkradio/status/773624350213713920 Guess what! They look like something else too! https://twitter.com/ShirazHassan/status/773748688233590784 https://twitter.com/StevieGthetruth/status/773655901328867332 Obviously, with small disconnected earbuds, every one is confident that they will get lost easily. So is there an app for that? https://twitter.com/Bieberrauhl57/status/773717814146437120 https://twitter.com/okaylora/status/773709018980315137 While the cameras on the iPhone 7 saw an upgrade, the ‘bokeh’ was an instant hit! https://twitter.com/brwnsknVXN/status/773721571319918592 https://twitter.com/agabadave/status/773754420450516992 And everyone noticed how Phil Schiller pronounces ‘bokeh’. https://twitter.com/grey_mttr/status/773704139406704640 Jony Ive (parody account) had a couple of things to say as well. And like always he did take jab at Samsung. https://twitter.com/JonyIveParody/status/773646149320265729 With not too many satisfied with Apple’s iPhone 7, someone had to state the obvious https://twitter.com/theNuzzy/status/773753363192131584 The Apple iPhone 7 launches in India on 7 October right in time for the festive season. It is priced right at Rs 60,000 as well, especially when you compare it with the iPhone 6s models that came out last year. The value for money quotient still remains and even though Apple’s iPhone 7 seems to lack innovation, (the AirPods are new) Apple fans will indeed lineup to buy one like every year. However, this year there is one more reason for fans to buy an expensive iPhone 7 and that would be ‘Jet Black’.
