Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is trailing Apple's iPhone 5s when it comes to sales figures, according to a new survey.
The report by Counterpoint suggests that the S5 is two million units behind in sales compared to the 5S. The numbers are even worse in some markets for Samsung, especially in comparison to the success of the Galaxy S4.
Counterpoint had conducted the survey in 35 markets accounting for more than 90 percent of global sales as of May 2014. It points out that over 7 million iPhone 5S units were sold compared to 5 million units of the Galaxy S5 in May. The survey took under consideration slightly different parameters and looked at sales to consumers instead of traditional market research data that considers the number of units shipped to retailers.
The report states that though Galaxy S5 managed huge sales post its launch, the sales figures eventually dwindled. It couldn't stand up to its arch-rival Apple's current flagship. On the other hand, the sales figures of the iPhone 5c are said to be falling. Apart from Apple and Samsung, only Xiaomi makes it to the list of top 10 best-selling devices for the month of May. Take a look at the list below:
Earlier this month, a report by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S5 has had some success in attracting former iPhone owners across Europe. The attracting factor seems to be the large display size, something Apple plans to address with the rumoured iPhone 6. However, it quickly states that the iPhone still remains the best-selling smartphone across the US and Europe, with the iPhone 5s holding the first place in the US and the 5C across Europe.
