The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were unveiled last week, when Apple CEO Tim Cook announced new prices for last year's iPhone 5s and 5c models. While the new iPhones are yet to launch in India, prices of old iPhones have already started to decline.
The iPhone 5s(16GB), launched at an MRP of Rs 53, 500, is now available for under Rs 40,000 on some retail websites such as Snapdeal and Flipkart. Note that the iPhone 5s comes with a fingerprint scanner and an 8MP iSight camera for better low-light photos. The iPhone 5c - Apple's first non-metallic iPhone since the 4- is available for under Rs 35,000 for the 16GB version while the 8GB version is available for around Rs 25, 000 on ecommerce websites. Along with the phones, their accessories have got a considerable price cut, too. Expect prices to come down further following the official launch in India.
This should come as good news to many as the iPhone 5s has been touted to offer better value for Indian buyers compared with the newly-launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 6 comes with a larger screen and faster processor along with minor improvements to the battery and camera. There's Apple Pay for faster online payments, but there have been no announcements about its adoption in India yet. Additionally, iPhone 5s and 5c users will be able to upgrade to the latest iOS 8 operating system which includes many of the features present in the iPhone 6.
