iPhone 5 is coming to India on 2 November

The iPhone 5 is coming to India pretty soon.

According to a press release by Ingram Micro, which distributes Apple products in India, the iPhone 5 will be available at leading stores and retail outlets across India beginning 2 November.

The price however has not been revealed and it is speculated that the device could cost somewhere between Rs 45,000 to 50,000. Earlier on, there were reports that the iPhone 5 was due to be launched on 26 October.

Earlier today, Apple’s App Store began accepting Indian rupees for paid apps. Initially prices of paid apps were shown only in US dollars and therefore your credit card was charged in dollars. This meant that not only were did users paying for the app, but also paid a conversion fee, and at a conversion rate that differed from bank to bank.

Apple’s iPhone 5 has been one of the fastest selling smartphones ever as the company sold nearly 5 million devices in the first weekend itself. India might not be on the top of the list as far as Apple is concerned but the launch of the iPhone 5 has been much awaited.

The price, however, might put a dampner on the mood for a lot of fans. Key features of the iPhone are: a 4 inch screen with a higher screen resolution of 1136640 pixel which comes to around 326 ppi. That’s Retina Display quality for you.

The iPhone5 has a dual-core A6 chip, an 8 megapixel rear camera with a sapphire crystal lens cover for ‘clearer pictures’ and a 1.2 megapixel front camera. The dock connector is now called Lightning, and is an eight-pin plug.
