After last week’s Core 2 Duo refresh launch , Intel has now announced the expected price cuts on its existing range of products. The biggest slash in price comes in the entry level quad-core processor, the Core 2 Quad Q6600. Its price has been reduced from its existing price point of USD$ 530 to US$ 266. This makes it the cheapest quad-core processor that is available now. In its place the newly launched Core 2 Quad Q6700 is now available at the $530 price point. The price cuts also have been extended to the budget E4000 processors. The Core 2 Duo E4400 has seen a price drop from USD$ 133 to USD$ 113. In its place, the E4500 has been debuted at $133.
These price cuts may not seem much but it is important. Firstly a quad-core processor is now available at under $300 and with the pending launch of Penryn processors in November… one can expect more price cuts.
