Instagram tries to woo jaded users by providing 'email highlights'

An email digest called ‘Highlights' shares via email the best posts from the users you follow, reports TechCrunch.

Four and a half years old is no longer youth for companies in the techno-sphere and Instagram is already applying anti-aging techniques.

An email digest called ‘Highlights' shares via email the best posts from the users you follow, reports TechCrunch. It's the first email service to come from the app, and while it hopes to reengage users who have looked the other way, TechCrunch speculates that not everyone may wish to receive extra email in the age of spam.

They say the new feature could, however, help users filter their content, weeding out the compulsive posters and seeing more of their real friends' posts.

Previously, Instagram announced that its Layout tool is now available on Android, as is the just-announced Structure. Layout, which launched in March on iOS, is a standalone app for creating collages of iPhone pictures. Its features include the ability to automatically find pictures containing faces, and the option of sharing collages on Facebook or Instagram.

Layout is now available on Google Play Store. Structure, which has also just launched on Android, is a creative tool the company says “brings out details and textures.” It is “coming soon” for iOS.
