Popular photo-sharing social network, Instagram recently updated its app for all platforms, bringing in an overhauled black and white UI and a new icon design (which was frowned upon by many). Now we have some more information regarding another update where the company is testing detailed post and follower analytics that will be displayed right in the app.

Thanks to a bunch of leaked screenshots of the app, Instagram users have a new update coming for them where they will have access to some of the analytics of their profiles. The new analytics feature is expected roll out to users that have signed up for an ‘Instagram for Business’ account (You know, those annoying sponsored posts).

These commercial account holders will be able to access these analytics by hitting the statistics button on the top. This feature will give users detailed information about their posts and followers in a graph-like format including data such as what country are their followers from or what time are their followers most active and so on. Users will be able to check audience demographics with follower breakdowns offered by gender and age.

According to the leaked info, post analytics will be more realistic as the provided data will be based on impressions rather than just likes, which actually makes sense. This will give a more clear view of how many followers are actually scrolling through your posts. There will also be an Insights section that will contain info like impressions, reach, website clicks, and follower activity data points.

All of these features could be game changer for Instagram users especially photographers who have been looking for a commercial platform. While these features have not yet been confirmed by Instagram, they could very well be in the testing phase and we can expect that a new update in the future will bring these features.
