Instagram now lets you share up to 10 photos and videos in a single carousel post

Instagram has finally rolled out one of the most awaited features - sharing multiple photos and videos in a single post. So far only advertisements had this feature enabled. For now the number has been limited to 10. You can upload 10 different photos or videos or a combination of both in a single post, so that your followers can swipe through all of them in one place. The update that will be rolling out shortly, will also show you a new icon which will let you select multiple photos and videos. After selecting the photos and videos, you can even change the order (tapping and holding) in which they appear. Filters can either be applied to each photo or video individually or in a batch.

However there are two things to keep in mind. Firstly, you can only add a single caption to this set of photos, which will work like a carousel. Secondly, they will only appear in the square format for now. When going through your Instagram feed, you will be able to see a set of blue dots which indicate an album or carousel of photos.  This Instagram album feature could be quite useful to a lot of users. Some of the immediate use-cases that come to mind include telling a visual story in 10 images or videos on a single topic/theme, if you are a food blogger you could maybe show recipe in 10 posts, fashion bloggers could show a step-by-step make up or dress up guide, technology reviewers could have a product unboxing, you could have photos from that party in one place, among other things.  “In feed, you’ll see blue dots at the bottom of these posts to let you know you can swipe to see more. You can like and comment on them just like a regular post,” says the Instagram blog post. The update will be available as part of Instagram version 10.9 for iOS as well as Android stores.
