Instagram is currently working on embedding posts in the Stories feature. Here, users can add public posts in their Stories and further embed with a button which will allow them to see the post further. This has not been made official as yet. It was initially testing a 'regram' button as well
According to TechCrunch, Instagram has been testing this feature with a small group of users. The process is supposed to lessen the efforts taken by users to reshare public posts. This is unlike the usual way of posting where users take screenshots, crop the image, and then repost them with new creative tools available on Instagram.
In the new feature, users have to press a button on a public post so that it gets embedded in Instagram Stories. Following this, users have an option to crop, highlight, or change the design of the post. On visiting the post, users can press the 'see post' button which takes the user to the original post.

But there are some of us who may not want to see our posts reposted on a public platform. Therefore, in the setting options, users can select the post to be private or public.
Instagram confirmed the recent development.
Instagram, like its parent company Facebook, is focussing on posts from friends. Keeping that in mind, this new feature can be helpful in maintaining the longevity of a post. Sometimes posts become too old or get lost in the timeline. Additionally, companies and users can take this feature to promote themselves as well.
