Social platform Instagram has announced that it is introducing a feature that will allow its users to schedule posts in advance. This is one of the features that users have long been demanding, especially users who are using the platform to manage social media profiles for their businesses.
However, this feature is not available to everyone and is limited to business profiles. The company pointed out that this is part of the Instagram Graph API. Another catch here is that this feature can only be used to schedule photos, not videos.
This feature is also not directly available on the official app or the website. Instead, it is only available on third-party social media management apps such as HootSuite and Sprout Social as reported by The Verge. Other companies should be listed as an Instagram Partner or Facebook Marketing Partner to get access to this feature at the time of writing.
According to a report by The Verge, the company pointed out that this new update will make its way to regular profiles by early 2019. The official Instagram Business blog post adds that other features that are part of the Instagram Graph API include the ability to see details about other businesses and viewing the posts that the business has been tagged in. This builds on previous features, including access to insights and comment moderation.
Ryan Holmes, CEO of HootSuite added, “The scheduling and publishing of Instagram content has been the number one request for our 16 million customers. Now, they can manage large volumes of content, multiple team members and multiple Instagram accounts with ease and security. HootSuite is excited to partner with Instagram to make this happen.”
