Sucker Punch has announced a release window for the next-gen inFamous: Second Son. The open-world superhero game is set to hit the PlayStation 4 in February 2014, according to Polygon. Along with this, the studio has also released a new trailer for the game. Check it out:
The trailer shows a girl who seems to have the conduit powers. Calling herself Fetch, she proclaims to have never hurt an innocent person in her life, after which she goes on to stab a random person in the chest with her bare hand. Knowing how videogame stories typically go, that guy was probably innocent. After this, we’re treated to the closest thing Second Son has to a main character running around and punching everything, Fetch included.
Fetch is obviously a noble vigilante
If the trailer is anything to go by, there seems to be a wider variety of conduit-based powers this time around. There seems to be everything from fire to lightning. We might even see some more creative kind of powers, like those manipulating air pressure, for instance. This does seem a bit too unlikely, though.
inFamous seems to be taking a darker turn in terms of story compared to the other two games. While they were dark and gritty, this one looks like a straight out dystopian world that wouldn’t look out of place in Watchmen. As is obvious from the previous games in the series, Cole will not be returning as the main protagonist of inFamous: Second Son. It looks like this time around, we will get to explore powers based around the basic elements as opposed to Cole’s lightning powers.
