Indian student gets whopping Rs 1.27 crore offer from Google

Chetan Kakkar, a Delhi boy from DTU (Delhi Technological University), has set a new record by bagging a whopping $1,90,000 offer from Google that translates to Rs 1.27 crore per annum, according to a report in the Times of India. “A final year student of DTU’s information technology department, Kakkar will be joining Google, California with a compensation of Rs 1,25,74,200 ($1,90,000) after he completes his study in 2016. The highest offer made so far in DTU campus has been Rs 93 lakh,” the news report states. Kakkar is an alumnus of Springdales, Pusa Road. His parents are teachers at the Delhi University. We’ve come a long way from the staggering Rs 80 lakh package offered on day 1 at IIT-Bombay placements back in 2012. Last year, four students from IIT Kanpur were offered to take home $150,000 which is about Rs 93 lakh per annum. Adding other incentives and perks, the size of the package crossed Rs 1 crore yearly mark. Google is not the only company, as social media giant Facebook has also offered Indian students lucrative job offers. Last year, three students bagged the highest package of Rs 1.42 crore each from Facebook at a premier IIT-B on the first day of the placements. According to the Towers Watson 2014-15 Asia-Pacific salary budget planning report released earlier this year, Indians are expected to get 10.8 percent hike in salaries in 2015. China is expected to see the highest salary increase with 5.2 percent, followed by Pakistan (4.5 per cent), Bangladesh (4.3 per cent), Vietnam (4.1 per cent) and Sri Lanka (3.8 per cent).
