WhatsApp has released a string of interesting facts about the Video calling feature that it rolled out back in November last year. According to the latest data, more than 1.2 billion monthly active users are making video calls across multiple platforms. The company also pointed out that India has topped the list of countries in terms of the number of total video calling minutes. The report estimates that WhatsApp has about 200 million monthly active users in India according to the data collected in February 2017.
The company pointed out that WhatsApp users engage in about 340 million video calling minutes per day, across the globe. India accounts to about 50 million of the total 340 million video calling minutes per day. The users make about 55 million video calls per day which helped us figure out that the average length of each video call is about 6 minutes.
WhatsApp developers are not taking it easy despite the growing use. The company is currently working on a number of features ranging from the message revoke feature to albums, pinned chats, new VoIP calling interface, live location sharing and text status updates including the new WhatsApp for Business. The company is testing these features out in the beta versions of the app for Android, iOS and Windows devices.
