Sony seems all set to announce its “lens camera” line of accessories soon and almost right on cue, some interesting images of the smartphone companion have been leaked, giving us a closer look at the device.
Sony Alpha Rumors has posted some pictures that gives us a real good look at the device that could turn into a handy companion for smartphone shutterbugs. The device was earlier rumoured to be called “EspressOn” but is now being dubbed as “SmartShot”, a mix between Smartphone and Cyber-Shot. The lenses will be available in two variants – the DSC-QX100 and the DSC-QX10.
Champagne coloured to go along with iPhone 5S gold
These devices will essentially work as an attachable lens that will be paired with iOS and Android smartphones. In fact, one of the leaked images of the lenses shows that it will also be available in a neat champagne-colour, positioning itself as a perfect accessory for the rumoured gold-coloured iPhone 5S, slated to be launched this month. The lens will also be available in classic black as well.
The lenses will reportedly connect to your smartphones via Bluetooth and will also have Wi-Fi as well as NFC capabilities. They will also be compatible with your smartphones via the PlayMemories App. Both the QX10 and the QX100 are supposed to come with a built-in image stabiliser.
Both the lenses will be capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps. They will save all the videos shot using the lenses to not just your smartphone but will also retain a copy within the lenses’ memory itself. The QX10 is supposed to feature an 18MP CMOS sensor and an f/3.5-3.9 lens. The QX100 on the other hand will feature a 20.2MP sensor, an f/1.8 aperture as well as 3.6x optical zoom.
Perfect accessory to your smartphone
The official announcement pertaining to the release of these smartphone lenses is supposed to be scheduled for Tuesday. The QX10 will reportedly be announced for $250 (Rs 16,455 approx.) and the QX100 will be priced at a much-higher price point of $450 (Rs 29,619 approx.)
