At the Apple event that is scheduled for tomorrow, the iPad mini is expected to take centre stage. However, one of the other products expected to be announced at the Apple event is the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display capabilities. Until now, no images of the smaller Retina MacBook Pro were available, and as per a recent report by MacRumors that sourced information from a Weiphone forum thread, we can now see the MacBook Pro with Retina Display snapped alongside the MacBook Air and with it, we can now see the difference in their sizes.
From the image, we can see that there is hardly any difference in height between the two products and the upcoming notebook is extremely slim.
The difference between the MacBook Air and the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro
Apart from the comparison with the MacBook Air, the report also states that the Weiphone poster has also shown the battery layout as well as the ports of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. According to the report, the author states, “The poster of that thread has now updated the original post with additional photos showing a number of features of the machine, including the battery layout, the ports on the left and right sides of the machine, and a number of other internal features. Unfortunately, the pictures are generally rather small and of low quality, but it seems clear that the poster does indeed have access to an unreleased 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro.”
Other images of the notebook include the logic board, internals for the various ports as well as an 8GB RAM from Elpida. Apart from the above mentioned features, the poster has also pointed out that the resolution of the display is 2560 x 1600, this keeps in line with the leaked information that had surfaced earlier regarding the resolution.
Ports that will be found on the upcoming notebook
The entry-level model of the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro is expected to cost roughly $1,699 at launch, while the model with higher specifications will cost $200 to $300 more. By the current conversion rate between the US dollar and the Indian rupee, the price of this notebook roughly translates to Rs 91,150. However, with the 15-inch variant launched much earlier, there was a huge difference between the converted US price and the Indian price. The 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro notebooks are available in India at a starting price of Rs 1,52,900.
A recent report by Cnet has indicated that a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display was on track for production, according to an analyst at NPD DisplaySearch. The analyst Richard Shim told Cnet that a 13.3-inch Retina version of the MacBook Pro (MBP) was slated for production in the fourth quarter of this year. Shim reiterated that he saw no change in those production plans, and also confirmed that the MBP 13.3-incher will have a 2,560 x 1,600 pixel density display. That compares with the 2880 x 1800, 15.4-inch Retina MacBook Pro announced in June.
