Acer unveiled the Chromebook R 13 convertible with a 13.3-inch touch-screen display with a full HD 1920x1080 resolution. The laplet is powered by a MediaTek M8173C CorePilot quad core processor. It is available in multiple memory configurations, from 16GB to 64Gb with up to 4GB of RAM. The battery allows for up to twelve hours of continuous usage. James Lin, General Manager, Commercial & Detachable Notebooks, IT Products Business at Acer said “The 13-inch touch display is large and vibrant, so it’s ideal for anything from homework and spreadsheets to games, video and fun apps. Plus, up to 12 hours of battery life means our customers can use it at school or work and continue using it into the evening for activities like homework and watching movies.”
Gartner data suggests that Acer leads the market in the Chromebook segment, with a 33 per cent market share. The 360 degree hinge allows for the laptop to be used in many different modes. The Chromebook can be used as a laptop, a tablet, as well as display and tent modes. Prices and specifications will vary by region. The Chromebook R 13 will be launched in America, Europe, Middle East and Africa in October. Pricing for America starts $399 (roughly Rs 27,000) and for the EMEA region, starts at €399 (roughly Rs 30,000).
