At the IFA 2015, Chinese manufacturer Huawei introduced a new smartphone dubbed Mate S. With this smartphone, looks like the company tries to take on some of the big tech giant such as Apple and Samsung.
The Mate S will be offered in Luxurious Gold, Titanium Grey and Mystic Champagne color variants. It will retail for EUR 649 ($732, or roughly Rs. 48,300) with a premium version for EUR 748 (roughly Rs. 55,600) respectively.
The device will be available in more than 30 countries including China, Germany, Israel, Japan, France, Germany and Spain and can be pre-ordered in Western Europe from September 15.
In terms of specs, the Huawei Mate S sports a 5.5-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Kirin 935 processor paired with 3GB RAM. It will be offered in 32GB/64GB/128GB storage variants but depends on different markets. Huawei says it is one of the first smartphones to include a Force Touch display, which can distinguish between a light tap and deep press, enabling access to more functions just by pressing harder. The Huawei Mate S also features an improved fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.
It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Emotion UI 3.1 skin on top. The smartphone comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera with dual-tone flash along with an 8MP front facing camera for selfie lovers. In terms of connectivity, the device features Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, 2.4G and USB2.0. A 2700mAh battery completes the package.
