IFA 2014: Sony unveiled Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet with PS4 Remote Play

At the IFA, Sony has pulled the wraps off the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. The company introduces it as a device that ’re-defines lightness, re-invents entertainment and re-imagines power.’   Sporting an 8-inch Full HD display, it is 6.4mm slim and weighs just 270 grams. With IP65/68 rating, it is water as well as dust resistant. On the inside, the tablet comes powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz and coupled with 3GB RAM. It also boasts of being the only tablet with PS4 Remote Play.  Moreover, gaming fiends will also find support as the Qualcomm Adreno 330 GPU delivers up to 25 percent performance improvement over its previous generation.

  The tablet also comes fitted with an 8.1MP rear camera along with Exmor RS for low light conditions. Its 2.2MP front-facing HD camera will come handy when making video calls and taking selfies. Some other features include advanced Xperia Email, Calendar and Contacts apps, which can be synced using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), NFC compatibility,  Movie creator to make short movies, add the videos live via Live on YouTube by Xperia, add scribbles to pictures using AR fun and Sound Photo to add sound to pictures.   The device also promises 13 hours of video playback and users can also take advantage of Sony’s Battery Stamina Mode that turns off background functions when you’re not using them to help extend your battery life. Sony wants to ensure that users make a smooth switch to Sony devices and has introduced the Xperia Transfer that easily transfers all of your existing content, contacts and so on.   There is no word on the pricing, but it is expected to hit markets during Autumn 2014.
