Huawei has unveiled two MediaPad M5 tablets and a MediaPad M5 Pro at MWC 2018. The two M5 tablets are available in an 8.4-inch and 10.8-inch screen variant. The M5 Pro appears to use be using a 10.8-inch screen as well.
Despite the difference in screen size, the tablets features a resolution of 2560x1600, giving them a very high pixel density of 280 PPI for the M5 Pro and 359 PPI for the M5, higher than what you’d find on an equivalent iPad. These displays are covered by 2.5D curved glass for a more premium finish.
The three tablets are powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 960 series chipsets and run Android 8.0 Oreo (EMIUI 8.0). All variants of the tablet are available with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage, though the MediaPad M5 models include 32 GB storage options as well.
All the devices support LTE, WCDA and GSM networks, as well as GPS, GLONASS, BDS, etc. They also support dual-band Wi-Fi up to 802.11 ac speeds.
In terms of cameras, the devices feature 13 MP f/2.2 rear cameras and 8 MP f/2.2 front cameras.
For audio, all devices feature Harman Kardon tuned speakers, with 4 speakers on the 10.8-inch models and only two on the smaller one.
In terms of battery capacity, the smallest device features a 5,100 man battery while the larger two come with 7,500 mAh batteries. All devices are bundled with 9V / 2A chargers that support fast-charging standards.
The M5 Pro is unique among these devices as it supports the M-Pen and a Surface-style keyboard that can transform your experience to a desktop one. The M-Pen has 4,096 levels of sensitivity.
The price of the 8.4-inch MediaPad M5 starts at EUR 349 for the 4/32 GB model with Wi-Fi going up to EUR 499 for the 4/128 GB LTE model. The price of the 10.8-inch unit goes from EUR 399 to EUR 549 for the similarly specced variants.
