Huawei Mate 20 Pro Launch Highlights: With triple camera setup, Kirin 980 at Rs 69,990

Mate 20 Pro features a notched 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 pixels.

Huawei had announced the Mate 20 Pro at an event in London back on 16 October. Now, the smartphone is going to be launched today in India at an event in New Delhi at 11 am. This is the first time that Huawei will be launching its Mate series smartphone in India.

Since the launch has already taken place, we are aware of the specs of the device. The mystery is the pricing of the device which also happens to be the only reason this event is being held in the first place.

To recall, the Mate 20 Pro features a notched 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 pixels. It is powered by the Kirin 980 chipset based on a 7 nm FinFET manufacturing technology. One amazing feature on the Mate 20 Pro is that it can wirelessly charge other devices. The expected price of this phone is somewhere around Rs 65,000-Rs 75,000.

    Prices for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro are now out. The phone will be starting at Rs 69,990 for the 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variant. There is also another offer which offers Sennheiser headphones worth Rs 29,990 for free but the phone will cost Rs 71,990.

    Leica and Huawei have been partnering on many smartphones previously and most recently on the P20 Pro. It is the same as Nokia's partnership with Carl Zeiss. German company Leica is recognized worldwide as one of the best camera making company.

    Kirin 980 powered phone

    The phone is powered by a 7 nm Kirin 980 chipset. The phone is filled with AI-enabled features which help in day to day functions. The phone also has a 24 MP selfie camera along with 3D face unlock technology for secure face unlock.

    Underwater shooting?

    The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. The phone also has an underwater shooting mode which will let you take some of the best underwater photos possible by a smartphone. You will also be needing the Mate 20 Pro's underwater case as well.

    Triple Camera

    The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a 40 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP triple camera system which has been made in partnership with renowned camera maker Leica. The P20 Pro also had a similar triple-camera setup.

    The invisible speaker and display

    The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has dual-speakers which has a hidden speaker in the type-C port. Sadly there is no headphone jack in the phone. The phone has a 6.2-inch curved QHD+ AMOLED screen with a notch on the top. The phone's rear is made using a Hyper Optical Pattern which prevents fingerprints on the backside.

    Huawei's commitment to India

    In Bangalore, Huawei has the second biggest R&D centre outside of China and there will be a lot more India focused developments to follow.

    Huawei says that it has connected more than 1/3rd of the world in one way or the other through its products. Huawei has been ranked number two in the world in terms of smartphone shipment. Huawei will also ship 200 million devices before 2018 is over.
