There’s another Huawei dual-camera phone on the way and it’s called the Honor 8 Pro. The device is scheduled for launch at 2 pm on 6 July.
The device features a 5.7-inch display with a 2K resolution (2560x1440). A HiSilicon Kirin 960 backed by 4/6 GB of RAM provides the processing power. The Kirin 960 features 4x ARM-Cortex A73 cores at 2.3 GHz and 4x ARM-Cortex A53 cores at 1.8 GHz. A Mali-G71 MP8 GPU handles the graphics.
Internationally, the device is available with 64 GB of internal storage. India will get a variant with 128 GB of onboard storage. Huawei hasn’t yet confirmed the variants coming to India, so we don’t know for a fact if the 4 GB / 64 GB variant will be available as a cheaper option. Internal storage can be expanded by up to 256 GB via a microSD card.
The camera setup is interesting because Huawei has gone for a dual, 12 MP setup. One is an RGB sensor and the other is a monochrome one. Both cameras have an aperture of f/2.2. The front camera has an aperture of f/2.0 and offers a resolution of 8 MP.
The software appears to be limited to Android 7.0, but Huawei has skinned the OS.
The 7 mm thick body houses a 4,000 mAh battery.
Prices haven’t been revealed, but we’re expecting to see it priced in the same range as the OnePlus 5.
The live stream for the device launch can be found here. Whatever the price, it will go on sale on 10 July at 6 pm.
